Permanent Hair Removal – Laser or Electrolysis??

Posted by admin on May 17, 2010 under Alma Lasers Harmony System, laser hair removal, new york medispa

There are facts about Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis Hair Removal that are often misleading, unfortunately this incorrect information is often given by many service providers in the hair removal industry.  Many of the incorrect statements being conveyed is no need for electrolysis when laser hair removal is available.

The fact is, that both Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis Hair Removal each have their place.

Electrolysis is the only method that will effectively remove targeted hair growth mostly seen on the chin and lip areas of women.  If a laser is used on these areas where not all the hair is actively growing it could cause much more harm than good. Vellus hair, which is the superficial hair that covers mostly every inch of our body, will be singed by the laser and start the growth process.  Before any laser session the skin must be shaved to avoid burning the hair and harming the skin. By shaving this vellus hair and then applying laser, the dormant vellus hair will begin to grow and cause much more hair growth in the area being treated for removal, the dark thick targeted hairs, which are black and coarse. Electrolysis will target the terminal hairs ( thick dark hairs) that are easily seen and felt without touching the tiny, almost not visible, vellus hairs. By doing so only the individual, unwanted hairs, on the chin, lip, brows and face are targeted and guaranteed to be permanently eliminated.

If a hair removal client has full facial hair and shaves or waxes the face completely then they are a perfect candidate for laser.  Laser works best on dark hair against light skin and also full hair growth areas like bikini, under arms and legs and back. Full back hair on men respond very well to laser as every follicle has an active hair.

It may not be known but every square inch of skin has 6,000 hair follicles, much of which are Vellus hairs.  Electrolysis has always been the treatment for targeted permanent hair removal and should be referred by every laser center for correction.  If a laser hair removal center does not offer Electrolysis and suggests laser on these areas, the treatment will more than likely have very undesirable results in the long run and end up with much more of an unwanted hair problem.  Offering both Electrolysis and Laser Hair Removal treatments is the perfect solution to every condition of Permanent hair removal.

Pretty Face Medi Spa now offers Laser Hair Removal in motion as seen on the Doctors on CBS.  This technology is fast and much more comfortable than the standard laser and is very effective.  After six short treatments virtually all the hair is gone or reverted back to tiny unnoticeable Vellus hair.  We sell our Laser Packages in six treatments offering the last treatment complimentary.  Offering both Laser and Electrolysis continues to put Pretty Face Medi Spa as the location of choice for Permanent Hair Removal.

Laser Hair Removal – Get Rid Of Your Unwanted Hair Fast!

Posted by admin on Feb 8, 2010 under laser hair removal

http://www.amacorp.com How does laser hair removal work? Dark pigment (melanin) in the hair shaft and the papilla (the root of the hair follicle) are targeted by a specific light-energy emitted by the laser. In a tiny fraction of a second, the hair is simply vaporized without damaging the skin or any surrounding tissue. Permanent hair removal typically requires 5-6 visits Hair grows in 3 phases. 1) The active growth phase the part of the follicle that actually generates the hair (the papilla) is present and is growing a hair. 2) The mature phase when the hair has stopped growing and the papilla has disappeared. 3) The dormant phase the follicle is preparing to shed the old hair (exfoliation) and cycle back to the active growth phase. On average, a hair follicle will cycle through the phases every 4-12 weeks depending on which part of the body the hair is growing. When dark hair is treated, it is always vaporized regardless of the phase. However, the follicle itself will stop making hair only if treated during the active growth phase when the hair shaft is still connected to the root, making it vulnerable to the laser energy which destroys it. Therefore, the patient must return for 5-6 repeat visits of laser hair removal approximately 4-6 weeks apart until every follicle is caught in the active growth phase to achieve permanent hair removal. Long-term hair removal maintenance may be required With time, typical skin will grow new hair from newly active follicles that have never before been active. This is a common occurrence due to normal life changes, maturation, aging and normal hormonal cycles for both men and women. Therefore, even after a thorough and effective series of laser hair removal treatments that cleared all the hair from a given area, new hair may appear that will require an occasional laser hair removal touchup treatment. Does it hurt? In one pulse (that lasts a tiny fraction of a second) our lasers remove hair on a patch of skin the size of a quarter. The hair removal sensation is like plucking hair or getting snapped by a rubber-band. Our lasers incorporate a patented and state-of-the-art integrated cooling system that acts as a natural anesthetic, cooling down the skin to minimize any discomfort. Patients unanimously report that the hair removal treatment is a piece of cake compared to waxing. Darker hair vs. lighter hair and laser hair removal It is the pigment in the hair that actually absorbs laser energy. Thus, the darker the hair, the more laser energy it will absorb which is the key to vaporizing the hair and destroying the papilla for permanent hair removal. Additionally, the thicker the hair, the more laser energy it will absorb. Think of the hair shaft like a lightening rod. The thicker the rod, the more electricity it can absorb. Therefore, thick jet-black hair is the easiest to remove. Patients with light blonde, grey or white hair will need to apply a specially formulated pharmaceutical substance (that infuses the follicle with melanin) in conjunction with their laser hair removal treatments. Has anyone ever had laser hair removal? Does it hurt at all?

Posted by admin on Feb 8, 2010 under laser hair removal

I hate shaving and was thinking of laser removal. Are there any really good ways to remove hair forever without pain? Does laser really work? I have dark dark hair.
Laser hair removal has actually been surpassed by IPL hair removal (in Australia & at Pretty Face Medispa Here In Westchester New York – that is). As a Laser Aesthetician I have used and experienced both. I have dark hair and olive skin. I did have some hypopigmentation from the Ruby Laser but it resolved. I have had no side effects from the IPL and all my hair has gone…. legs, underarms, bikini. It’s wonderful, not having to worry about it anymore. Both laser and IPL are attracted to the melanin in the hair and only goes as deep as the hair root.It is not invasive at all and feels like a slight rubber band flicking the skin. It doesn’t cause cancer !!!! Either way it will take several treatments to be hair free.

PAINLESS LASER HAIR REMOVAL-www.prettyfacemedispa.com

Posted by admin on Feb 7, 2010 under laser hair removal

I know some people may not be interested in this so please feel free to skip this video! At the same time, I hope anyone interested in laser hair removal might find it a bit useful! The clinic I had my treatments at is SK:N http://www.sknclinics.co.uk/ One of the biggest things I forgot to mention was the exact feeling of the laser around session 3-4. Its hard to describe but its like a sharp, quick ping of an elastic band with a slight burn lol! It lasts split seconds and remember a little pain, a BIG gain! Cold and I mean COLD air is blasted on your face which takes a lot of the edge off! You may even find it doesn’t hurt you quite so much, I have very course hair or I should say HAD! FYI: Top lip is the painful area but only requires about 8 little zaps! I had a course of 6 treatments in total which worked out to roughly £80 a session and I have about 95% reduction so may have another treatment to blast the final 5%. My course of treatments was on offer so cheaper than usual. SK:N run these promotions quite frequently so it’s worth waiting for as it reduces the price substantially! I would recommend booking all your treatments in one go as a) it makes each session cheaper and b) going for one session will not reduce the hair but will cost you just under £100! Its a lot of money but worth it when 6 months later you are hair free!!! Woop! Also worth noting, laser does not work on blonde hair as there is no pigmentation for the laser to travel down. Any more questions please post me a comment! :)

What to do before laser hair removal appointment?

Posted by admin on Nov 28, 2009 under laser hair removal

Ok, I have an appointment Friday for some laser hair removal. Am I supposed to shave my legs like normal, or am I supposed to leave some stubble so the laser has something to zap at. I don’t want to show up unprepared either way. Thanks for the help!

I am getting it done also for the first time next Tuesday – and they told me to shave. They even said if I don’t – that’s fine, they’ll shave it for me!!

Sounds gross – but I guess that means that it should be smooth. It isn’t the actual hair that the lazer zaps – its the pigment of the hair that it detects.

Anyway – hope it works for you!

Does laser hair removal work for darker skinned people?

Posted by admin on Nov 28, 2009 under laser hair removal

I’ve heard several women with darker skin say that in the past doctors have said that the laser hair removal treatment would create light spots on their skin where the treatment took place.

Has this changed? Is it possible to get it done without damaging the pigmentation of my skin. Please site a source.

It is not like that laser hair removal work for the darker skinned people..It is quite suitable for all the people and it is quite easy but cost is high when compared to other treatment..It is not suitable for the people who have sensitive skin…It is also simple and safety way to remove the hair…
