Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent Or Should I Consider Electrolysis?

Laser hair removal and electrolysis and their ability to remove unwanted hair permanently is often misleading. In many case both treatments are necessary and others will benefit solely from one or the other. Many believe there is no need for electrolysis when laser is available. This is incorrect and in some cases can lead to much more unwanted hair.

If Laser is used on the face, chin or lip area of women where all the hair is not actively growing it could cause more unwanted hair to begin growing. The laser targets color and is much less effective on blonde, gray and fine hair. Women with dark skin are also difficult to treat as the laser cannot distinguish between the color of the hair and the color of the skin. Laser works best on light skin with dark hair and areas with full growth such as under arms, on the legs and in the bikini area where all the hair is actively growing. Some men, with full back hair, are good candidates for Laser as every follicle has a thick dark hair for the laser to find.

What is an active hair and why can’t I treat an area with laser where just a few hairs require treatment?

Vellus, is the superficial hair that covers most of our of body. This hair is very difficult to actually see but it exists on the surface of our skin. Mostly every square inch of skin has 6,000 follicles, much of which are Vellus hairs. Vellus hair is considered inactive. Areas that we shave, wax or tweeze regularly are Terminal Hairs and is considered active.

It is necessary to shave the area completely before a Laser treatment. The tiny inactive Vellus hairs will be shaved and treated along with the thicker hairs during a Laser treatment. The fine hairs will grow back and over time will become active. For example; if you have ten hairs on you lip and you want them removed by Laser, the Vellus hairs that surround the thicker, darker hairs, will grow back.

After several treatments the Vellus hairs, that do not respond to Laser, will start to change and become longer and darker. These Vellus hairs are still not being affected by the laser but becoming much more noticeable. Treating these areas with Laser can cause more unwanted hair than you started with.

Electrolysis will target the thick dark Terminal hairs without touching the tiny, almost non visible, Vellus hairs. By doing so only the individual, unwanted hairs are treated and guaranteed to be permanently removed without causing any additional growth. Electrolysis is also suggested for use after completed Laser Treatments for any unwanted hairs that grow back over time.

For many price is an issue when it comes to treatment. The cost of laser verses Electrolysis over time is around the same. Laser is much quicker and requires less treatments but the cost is paid for up front and requires 5 or more treatments. Electrolysis is much more affordable and may take several months of weekly appointments but the cost initially is minimal in comparison to the cost of laser. For example: underarm laser cost on average $150-$200 and approximately 2-5 minutes per treatment. Electrolysis on the underarm would cost on average $45 per half hour and only part of the work would be accomplished. Even though Electrolysis is much less expensive it would take many more treatments than laser to work on such a dense area and eventually the cost would be similar. In this area laser would be preferred as all the follicles are active and would be removed much more Quickly. At the end of the laser treatments in this area, Electrolysis should be suggested to correct any regrowth.

Electrolysis has always been the treatment for targeted hair removal and should be offered for permanent results. If a Laser center does not offer Electrolysis and suggests laser where all the hair is not active, you may experience an undesirable outcome.

Electrolysis and Laser Hair Removal provides the perfect solution for all areas in need of Permanent hair removal. Offering both treatments guarantees a successful outcome.

What’s the best laser skin resurfacing treatment?

Hello , I really need to strip away the layers of my skin, as there damaged through heat and sunburn, and burning through stuffy humid air in general, I’m 20 but over the last 6 moths various mishaps made my white skin go yellow and red under layer of damaged skin. Just wondeering what’s the best for removing many layers of skin. I hear fraxel has many problems like people coming out worse than they went in hyperpigmentation etc. So was wondering what’s the best most effective and most safest, fraxel, pearl, c02, eribium or some other treatment though laser or not, but not some weak little facial that’s not gonin 2 make a huge differenec, Is fraxel ok or what”?
The newer one is profractional laser and it doesn’t work better then fraxel.

It truly depends on exactly what needs to be properly corrected. In your case it sounds as if the Laser 360 would benefit you from a complete laser skin resurfacing approach. However, you should consult with a professional and certified laser technitian prior to receiving any treatments. FYI – Pixel Laser is an absolutely amazing skin rejuvenation treatment. Visit http://www.prettyfacemedispa.com/services for more detailed laser skin resurfacing information.

Has anyone had (facial) laser resurfacing done?

How long did it last before you thought about getting more procedures? What kind of compliments have you gotten? How long did it take for your skin’s redness to fade? How painful was it? Would you do it all over again…was it worth it? Do you or someone you know have any long-term side effects from it?
Yes, I did a few years ago. When I first had it done, I didn’t really see that much improvement, but other people commented that my skin was ‘immaculate’ lol. The redness took a couple of months to reside completely. It wasn’t that painful, just a bit uncomfortable for the first few days after. I guess the only painful part was trying to clean my skin, but apart from that it was fine. Overall, my skin was smoother, with increased elasticity and a more even skin tone. I’m probably going to have a TCA peel next time, as it is less expensive and has less downtime. HTH : )

Great News about your Laser Skin Resurfacing experience and I am Thrilled You Received Favorable Results!

www.google.com has a great deal of information that you could use to find your answers , while yahoo answer is more likely to be better for people’s opinions.. thanks.

pixel laser resurfacing and tretinoin cream?

i have taken an pixel laser resurphasing treatment of a scar on my upper lip(below nose). before pixel treatment i have used tretinoin for several months (melalong). now even after 7 days my skin is not healing properly. whaen crusting get shed new crusting develops again and again. what should i do now?
Call the person who treated you because it sounds like your skin has been burned and whoever performed the laser resurfacing(hopefully an experienced dermatologist)will need to observe the problem and determine the next course of action.I really cant urge you enough to seek medical treatment from a licensed doctor that has successfully treated several people you know personally..You don’t want to cut corners with this, Good luck!

It’s not the Pixel Laser. You must consult with a qualified skin care professional immediately. This is not normal and needs attention to ensure no infection sets in from the reaction.

Skin Tigntening 01 RxSkin Clinic

Non-Surgical Face Lift with the ST Device The non-surgical face lift with the ST (skin tightening) device provides a non-invasive skin lifting and tightening.Collagen, the main support system for skin, wears down over time due to aging, cumulative sun exposure, environmental conditions and smoking, et cetera, which all lead to sagging skin. The near-infrared ST device produces safe, effective deep dermal heating which induces neo-collagenesis (new collagen production). Who are typical candidates? younger patients not ready for surgery non-surgical candidates older patients with mild to moderate laxity (skin lacking firmness) What are the benefits compared to cosmetic surgery? Inexpensive alternative No downtime Avoid the pain/risks associated with standard surgery There are no restrictions in activity following the procedure Extremely safe How it works The ST device uses radiofrequency energy to heat the tissue below the skin while it keeps the skin surface cool. This “tightens” your existing collagen and stimulates new collagen growth. The end result is tighter, firmer skin. A local anesthetic cream will be used to numb the treatment area for one hour before your procedure. The length of time required for the procedure itself will depend on the size of the treatment area. The usual range is between 30 minutes and one hour. While the procedure should not hurt, you may experience a sensation of heat in the treated areas. Patients leave the office looking and feeling great. Typically, three to six 30 minute treatment sessions are required to obtain the desired result. Post-Procedure Results: What to Expect Results vary from patient to patient. Your age, treatment area, and skin laxity all affect the outcome. While some patients have seen improvement within a few days, you should expect your results to appear over a period of three to five months. We will take pictures before and after your procedure so you can see the benefits of your treatment over time. ST Device Science Overview: Key components to non-invasive skin remodeling are epidermal protection and proper selection of laser/light and energy to evoke the desired thermal response in the papillary and upper reticular dermis. These non-ablative modalities obviate the need for epidermal injury and promote the reorganization and proliferation of important dermal structures to reverse photo-damaged and lax skin via thermal or photochemical process. The ST device emits light between 780-1000nm (near infrared) where the optical window is ideal for direct sub-dermal heating (connective tissue, proteins) with low water absorption in the epidermis. These conditions negate the need for aggressive epidermal cooling. The ST device allows large coverage and true investment of energy density for better penetration and predictable thermal effect. The device is applied on the skin where it is kept stationary for the entire exposure time. Skin remodeling is a biophysical phenomenon that occurs at cellular and molecular levels via the intervention of optical or thermal energy. The ST device exerts its biological effect on the skin through two major mechanisms: 1) heat-induced collagen shrinkage and micro-thermal injury and; 2) dermis regeneration, repair (wound healing) and remodeling. Collagen cleavage in tissue is a probability event dependant on temperature. The in-vitro thermal cleavage of the hydrogen bond cross links of tropocollagen can result in the molecular contraction of the triple helix up to one third of its original length. Cellular contraction involves the initiation of an inflammatory/wound healing sequence that is perpetuated over several weeks. Contraction of skin is achieved through fibroblastic multiplication and contraction with the deposition of a static supporting matrix of nascent scar collagen. This cellular contraction process is a biological threshold event initiated by the degranulation of the mast cell that releases histamine. This histamine release initiates the inflammatory wound healing sequence. Following cellular contraction, collagen is laid down as a static supporting matrix in the tightened soft tissue structure. The deposition and subsequent remodeling of this nascent scar matrix provides the means to alter the consistency and geometry of soft tissue for aesthetic purposes.

This process along with pixel laser and IPL resurfacing produces complete skin rejuvenation. Available now at Pretty Face Medispa. Laser 360 discount package pricing! Skin Anti Aging Tip… Protect Yourself With Sunscreen!

This time of the year we all spend much more time outdoors. I just want to take this opportunity to remind everyone to apply sunscreen everyday! If you’re someone who wears makup, be certain you apply your sunscreen under your makeup and over your moisturizer to protect the damaging effects from the sun.

Enjoy being outdoors year round and always remember you can slow the skins natural aging process everyday by simply protecting your skin with sunscreen!

Don’t be fooled into buying moisturizer with sunscreen and makeup with sunscreen. The protection is greatly compromised when combined with other ingredients and falls short of the benefit of the anti aging protection of applying sunscreen.

Just past the age of twenty the skins ability to form collagen becomes compromised with sun exposure. Did you know that tanning booths have five times the aging UVA rays as natural sun?

I recommend an SPF of 30 or higher applied daily. You may also consider applying sunscreen to your hands, neck, and chest. Once this regimen is started it becomes second nature and the aging process is greatly reduced.

If you are someone who already has a signs of sun damaged skin (fine lines, wrinkles, sun and age spots, discoloration, dryness, loose skin etc.) you might want to obtain a free consultation regarding the laser 360 skin rejuvenation process that promotes new collagen growth!

Call Pretty Face Medispa For Your Free Consultation – 914.788.9790

http:www.PrettyFaceMedispa.com

Enjoy skin that is less wrinkled with no sunspots. Enjoy skin that is firm and even toned. Enjoy skin that has healthy texture and fullness.

Did you know that walking to the mailbox and cloudy days exposes the skin to harmful UVA rays? Did you know that UVA rays go directly through your windshield and clothing? Melanin surfaces to the skin to protect the skin from burning.  This constant up and down effect of Melanin cells to protect the skin from the sun destroys the youthful healthy skin we all want.

If I could sell just one product to prevent aging it would be sunscreen that is applied every day.

Effective treatment’s for acne scarring?

I’ve been suffering with acne most of my adult life. As a result i have quiet bad scarring on my back, stomach, and face. I’m currently on an antibiotic called, “Lymecycline” that i got from my GP. I’m hoping this will tackle my blackheads, and whiteheads that i have on my face, and body. But i was wondering if anyone can recommend any wash’s, cream’s that would reduce, or eradicate my acne scarring? i’ve looked into a thing called, “pixel laser” treatement, but it’s very expensive, and i’m not sure i can have it done whilst on antiobiotic’s? other option’s i’ve considered are a range of products from the harley medical group, the agera range. is the pro-activ range any good, and does that work on blemishes, and scar’s? any advice/help you can provide me, would be much appreciated. many thanks.

Alma Lasers “Harmony XL” works based on Intense Pulsed Light or IPL and provides one of a kind ability to receive three corrective procedures in one treatment. It’s called Laser 360 and is available at Pretty Face Medispa. Call for a free consultation today 914.788.9790.
