First, permanent makeup does not only last 5 years - it is a tattoo and lasts forever when properly maintained. It is crucial you find someone with the proper level of skill, aesthetic value, and knowledge of infection control.

I would start at this website: www.spcp.org

You can click to your own state for a list of professional members there. Then I would make an appointment to view their portfolio and check out their studio. You don't want to go somewhere where there is nail file dust all over..blow driers going, etc.

Tattooing should be in its own separate environment.

Make sure that what they show in their portfolio is similar to what you are looking for. You must feel comfortable and confident with this person - if not, keep moving. It is not like body art that can be hidden under clothing - we are talking about your face! It is a highly rewarding procedure or badly damaging one. Be sure your artist respects that about the industry!
